What's the current gaming experience like?
My team conducted 7 user interviews,
both avid and casual gamers, to understand why they play, where they acquire gaming information, and their overall likes and dislikes about their gaming experience.
The interviews revealed that gamers strongly value the social aspect of gaming.

The Challenge
The unfortunate presence of toxicity within gaming communities has caused gamers to feel unsafe to the point of serious depression, and some with suicidal thoughts.

of U.S. adult gamers have experienced harassment related to race/ethnicity, religion, ability, gender, or sexual orientation.
10%
of players impacted by toxicity have had depressive and/or suicidal thoughts.
No other gaming platforms address inclusivity in gaming.
I implemented a competitive analysis to find out which major cloud gaming platforms had features that enhanced the social & community aspect of gaming.
None of the competitors have an inclusive and safe space for gamers of shared interests to meet, socialize, and hang out.
How might we design an inclusive Communities page that welcomes all gamers of various backgrounds?

Testing
EVO gained a lot of positive feedback from our 5 usability tests with various gamers. Our team wanted to make sure our gamers could navigate two main features:
1. Navigate to the Communities page and join a community.
2. Find a friend within a Community and jump into their game under a minute.

Next Steps
Fully implement and usability test a mobile app.
Expand on our communities - add more communities and introduce additional engaging features to bring gamers together.
Reflection
My team truly ruled. I loved working with Seth, Eugene and Greyson - we communicated effectively and with respect. A team can make or break a project, and this team made this project with passion, care, and drive.
If there was more time I would love to build out more Community cards as well as conducting more tests to inform further improvements.
Our EVO Communities design was created with intentions of love and inclusivity for all.
